Mechanical Engineer from the University of Massachusetts with an MBA in Corporate Finance from IBMEC, currently advancing executive capabilities through the Executive General Management Program at MIT Sloan School of Management. I combine technical rigor with strategic vision to lead high-performing organizations through complexity, restructuring, and growth cycles. Over the past decade, I have held leadership positions with increasing scope and impact, including CTO, Director of Projects & BD, and now General Manager for Latin America at Vantris Energy, where I oversee regional operations, business development, P&L performance, strategic positioning, and project execution.

Carlos Sicilia Gaillard

Carlos is responsible for the Rigid Pipe and Riser Design Group within TotalEnergies Headquarters. In this position, he is involved in all aspects related to pipeline and riser developments, from R&D and early phase studies to project execution and integrity assessments in support to operations. With over 20 years of experience in numerical modelling and pipeline engineering, he has worked on challenging pipeline projects, often requiring advanced engineering methods.
Prior to joining TotalEnergies, Carlos worked in a number of consultancies as an FE analyst for the pipeline industry. He is graduated in Civil Engineering from the UPC in Barcelona and has a PhD in Computational Mechanics from the University of Wales (Cardiff & Swansea) in the UK.

Christian Geertsen

Working for ITP since 1997, Christian has always been involved in the development of solutions to technical challenges revolving around the flow assurance of difficult fluids. A physicist by trade, he has developed pipe-in-pipe solutions for ultradeep waters, electrically heated pipelines, sulfur, bitumen, and subsea LNG pipelines. He has a keen interest in developing efficient solutions to the world’s energy challenges, in the Oil and Gas industry and beyond.

Carl-Petter Halvorsen

Carl-Petter Halvorsen has more than 35 years of experience in the oil & gas industry, all related to the engineering, design, procurement and installation of rigid pipe, flexible pipe and subsea construction work and also the IMR and inspection phase. After a short time with DSND now Subsea 7 he joined Wellstream as General Manager for their Norwegian office in 1998, he moved to Newcastle in 2001 as their Business Development Director and stayed until a management buy-in took place in 2004. He founded the company Consultare Ltd to support businesses in UK and Norway to grow their business, some international companies he has supported include PSI (now TD Williamson), Marine Subsea Group, STATS Group, Innospection, Simmons International, CSUB AS, Seasystems (ex Scana Offshore ) and others. More recently, he has been heavily involved with renewables, especially floating wind turbines world-wide. Now also developing new AUV technology with Japanese partner, Kawasaki Heavy industries, for subsea related activity within energy sector and mining etc. Ad Hoc due diligence and M&A activity also on the agenda. He lives in Aberdeen. -

Roberta Pires

Roberta Pires is the Latin America sales director for subsea equipment, encompassing flexible pipes, christmas trees, manifolds and any type of Subsea Production System.
Along her 23 years of experience, she has led several teams in the fields of engineering, research development and innovation, technology strategy, front end, early engagement and now sales. She has worked in Brazil, France and England in subsea projects distributed across the globe for a wide range of national and international operators.
She joined Baker Hughes in 2018 to manage qualification for flexible pipes under high CO2 and is now happy to be back to Rio.
Roberta holds a Materials Engineering and an Industrial Engineering degree from PUC-Rio.

Dr Raj Ramar

Dr. Raj Ramar is Head of Subsea Engineering (London) at McDermott, with over 21 years’ experience in the design and analysis of onshore and offshore steel, composite structures, and subsea pipelines. His expertise covers concept, FEED, and detailed design stages, combining technical management with hands-on analysis of subsea structures, flowlines, and pipelines.
Raj has supported numerous deep-water SURF EPCI tenders for major international and national oil companies and has played key roles in several high-profile offshore developments. He is highly experienced in static and dynamic non-linear finite element analysis, assessing the strength and integrity of offshore pipelines, and providing practical, engineering-based solutions. His technical skills also include pipe-in-pipe design, reeling analysis, and flexible and umbilical design engineering.
Earlier in his career, Raj worked on aircraft engine FEA at Rolls-Royce/Imperial College London and conducted doctoral research on tensegrity structures at Cambridge University.

Flavio Ribeiro

Flavio Ribeiro is a Principal Mechanical Engineer with over 25 years of consolidated experience spanning the aerospace, oil & gas, and energy sectors. He holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA from the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), combining strong technical foundations with advanced managerial competencies.
Throughout his career, Flavio has led multidisciplinary engineering and technical verification programs covering fixed offshore platforms, subsea systems and equipment, LNG terminals, pipelines, rotating machinery, and pressure vessels. His work reflects a consistent commitment to technical rigor, risk reduction, and lifecycle integrity.
With more than 13 years at DNV dedicated to certification, conformity assessment, and regulatory compliance, particularly under Brazil’s subsea systems certification and NR13 framework, for which he has been IBPcertified since 2019, Flavio has developed a recognized expertise in equipment integrity and regulatory assurance. A PMP® credential holder since 2016, he has repeatedly delivered highimpact outcomes in project management, certification services, and customer engagement.
Flavio currently serves as Team Leader for Technical Verification at DNV, where he is responsible for ensuring adherence to international standards and best practices across upstream, midstream, and downstream operations, while fostering a culture of engineering excellence and continuous improvement.

With 33 years’ experience in the offshore industry, Pieter held a range of engineering and management roles for subsea pipeline and offshore projects around the world. Until November 2020, Pieter worked for Shell as staff engineer in various countries including Australia, Russia, Ireland, Netherlands, and Norway, where he was the Principal Technical Expert Offshore Pipelines amongst others. From November 2020 Pieter starts his own consultancy, SeaLeopard Engineering, based in The Hague which provides client expertise in design, installation, construction, and operations for subsea pipeline systems. Pieter has fulfilled a range of nonprofit activities and is currently associated to the Society of Underwater technology in Perth as board member. Pieter enjoys mentoring students and advancing frontier subsea/offshore projects using new technology. He holds an MSc degree from Delft University in Mining & Petroleum Engineering and is a chartered engineer.
